Most recently, I have had several people approach me about Gender Reveal Cupcakes. I remember not so long ago expecting my own children. For my first child, we painted the nursery yellow and waited until birth to be surprised with a son. His gender, name, birth date( he was born 4 weeks early), weight, and height were ALL a surprise! When I was expecting my second child, we had the ultra sound technician whisper the gender in my 4 year old son's ear. Tears welled up in our eyes as his proud little voice revealed life's most precious surprise, "It's a girl!" Later that day my husband emailed me and asked if from now on we should just start referring to our little unborn baby as "Megan.". From that moment on we did start calling her Megan and I guess you could say that was just the start of Megan's Cupcakes. How will you reveal your baby's gender? I am a baker not an O.B., but from past experience I can tell you that right about that scheduled 20 weekish ultra sound appointment, in most cases, your baby's gender can be revealed. So when you schedule that appointment, schedule a call with me as well. You can either tell me the gender or have your ultra sound technician tell me the gender. Then we can set up when and where you would like your cupcakes. The gender reveal scenarios could be for the expecting parents, Grandma and Grandpa, or maybe a friends and family Gender Reveal Party! Either way, Megan's Cupcakes will take care of the details inside our bakery boxes. Pick your flavors and we will place either our "It's a Girl" or "It's a Boy" ring on top of the cupcakes. Or if you were like me the first time around and waited until the birth, we also deliver Gender Reveal Cupcake Gift Boxes to the hospital to take home or pass out.

Megan's Cupcake's King Cupcakes
Cupcake Flavor of the Season:
King Cupcakes
in honor of Mardi Gras
Megan's Cupcakes is continuing the Mardi Gras tradition in Cadillac with King Cupcakes! The Mardi Gras season begins on January 6th, the 12th Day of Christmas also known as "Epiphany" or "Kings Day." This is the day in the church calendar that the three kings visited the baby Jesus. This celebratory time during the church calendar continues until the day before Lent, otherwise known as "Mardi Gras" or "Fat Tuesday" which this year is on February 12th. In New Orleans starting in the 1870's people celebrated this time with a "King Cake."
Our version is a yellow cinnamon swirl cupcake topped with butter cream frosting. Each cupcake is decorated with the traditional Mardi Gras colors: purple represents justice, green represents faith and gold represents power.
A small baby, symbolizing the baby Jesus, is baked into only one cupcake in each dozen we bake. Like the biblical story, the "search for the baby" adds excitement, as each person waits to see in whose cupcake the baby will be discovered. While custom holds that the person who finds the baby in their cake will be rewarded with good luck, that person is also traditionally responsible for bringing the King Cake to the next party or gathering.
