I'm off in the morning to be the guest baker at Blackberry Rose, 109 S. Mitchell St., in downtown Cadillac, MI. I'll be baking the September flavor of the month, Caramel Apple Cupcake. This is an apple spice cake with butter cream frosting and caramel drizzled on top. Stop by and taste a free sample of our mini cupcakes, try a frosting shot, and take home a six pack of regular size cupcakes for $7.50. I'll see you there from 10am-3pm.

Holiday Desserts
It's only September, but it's not too early to start making your holiday plans. Tomorrow morning I'll be baking some holiday sample cupcakes for an large upcoming holiday event. Two combination flavors that go great together are the Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cupcake with Fudge Frosting and then the Red Velvet Cupcake with Butter Cream Frosting.
Chocolate lovers love my pound cake like cupcake with the old fashioned cooked fudge frosting and of course the Red Velvet is an old southern traditional holiday cake that is hard to come by in a traditional bakery setting. My weekends are starting to get booked for November and December, so planning ahead is key! Hope to hear from you.

Cupcake flavor of the Month
This weekend people hosting dinner parties around town in Cadillac, MI were able to experience a little taste of Michigan fall with the September Cupcake Flavor of the Month! Must have been all the rainy gloomy weather that gets us in the mood for spicy winter flavors. The first and foremost important ingredient are freshly picked Michigan apples from the local farmers market. The apples are sliced and chopped in small bits and added to the cake batter along with some cinnamon. The result is an old fashion type spice cake that is moist and fluffy with bits of cooked apples in every bite. The cakes are then frosted with a generous swirl of butter cream frosting, then creamy caramel is drizzled on top of the butter cream blending all the flavors of the apples, cinnamon, butter cream and caramel. They apsolutley melt in your mouth! Call me if you would like to try some- this one will only be available through the end of September.

Caramel Apple Cupcake
After living in Miami, Florida last year, I realized I hadn't experienced a Michigan fall in two years! There are lots of fresh veggies and tropical fruit in Florida all year long, but nothing like going to your local farmer's market and harvesting yourself a bushel of fresh picked Michigan apples. Today, my kids made caramel apples for dessert. Remember the old fashion kind? Where you peal the wax paper off the perfectly shaped piece of sticky carmel and use the wooden stick provided in the kit to poke your fresh apple? There is something about the changing seasons that can inspire us all. Look forward to an Apple Spice Cake with Butter Cream Caramel Frosting Cupcake tomorrow! It is the September Cupcake Flavor of the month!
